Thievery Corporation at the House of Blues

Thanks to the wonderful Beantown Boogie Down, I was lucky enough to score some free tickets to see the Thievery Corporation at the House of Blues via a contest run on the site.

It certainly helped a bit that the concert was free, though even so the group put on a really fantastic show. I had heard bits and pieces about the band, previously, though I still as of yet do not own any of their albums and only had a vague idea as to their sound. As a live show, they had a very large number of vocalists, each with their own particular style, backed by approximately the same instrumentals behind each.

This was my third time at the House of Blues in Boston, and the venue has certainly been up to par in each case. The Thievery Corporation brought something new this time, however, with some massive screens which projected both the people on stage as well as other video footage from a variety of sources. The net effect was a very eye-pleasing presentation which followed in the style of their world-influenced songs. It was both accessible and uplifting, and if you have a chance to see them live I certainly recommend checking them out whether or not you imagine yourself as a fan.
